Internet nonsense
Funny videos and stuff
I love making silly nonsense and posting it on the internet. I’m in the top 1% of Reddit users based on the amount of “likes” I have.
I see it as somewhat related to my day job. Trying to engage an audience, mostly through humour, often reactive.
And, unlike most advertising, you get instant feedback in likes or comments so you’re never left wondering how effective your work has been.
The Traitors chalkboards
You’ve seen The Traitors right? If you haven’t, it’s basically loads of people in a big house trying to find which of them are the traitors. And each week they write their vote on a small chalkboard. I cheekily edited what was written on those boards for comic effect.
Currently sitting at 1.7 million views and almost 200k likes on TikTok. Posted to Twitter by several different people, quote tweeted by Denise Welch etc etc.
It was shown on The Graham Norton Show
Which was nice.
I also made one for Series 3
Receipt Poetry.
A little project where I write “poems” using supermarket receipts as my canvas. My first poem was creating the shape of half a Christmas tree using classic Christmas items.
20 Years of Radiohead at Glastonbury
Some rare non-funny content. In 2017, Radiohead played Glastonbury for a third time. I thought “hey, there will be some songs they have played at all three gigs. Wouldn’t it be interesting to contrast and compare in real time?” So I synced up all 3 performances of several of their songs. Hundreds of thousands of likes on YouTube. And Radiohead’s managment sent me some emails saying they liked ‘em and to shout if anyone tries to take them down for copyright reason.
Steamed Hams but someone doesn’t know how to use a toilet.
You need to be familiar with 2 popular internet videos for this one. The first is The Simpsons sketch called Steamed Hams which, for some reason, was heavily memed by fans. I took Steamed Hams and melded it with the famous viral video which is commonly know as Disgustang. A clip where a Scottish mum interrupts her kids to ask who has not flushed the toilet.
thh this one didn’t create a huge impact but I still stand by it as a work of art.
Ever Given x Eastenders
Remember Ever Given, that huge ship that got stuck in the Suez Canal? And you know how the beginning of Eastenders features a shot of The Thames? Well, I brought those together and Reddit liked it.
